Each session has a project that is unique and holds a hidden lesson that unlocks vital tools to move you forward in your abilities. This will engage you to paint a wide variety of subjects with a focus on a finished work. A written document will cover each project that describes the goals, lessons, and examples of works. For example, a project about water will guide you to see how water can be handled and give you an insight about colors, values, and paint application.
All styles are welcome. Except pastels, all painting mediums are welcome. Level of ability, intermediate to advanced.
There will be a zoom link and recording for the lecture portion. The editing of the recording will be saved and sent out in its raw form. I will try to edit the videos as we progress throughout the year but time restraints outside of the class makes editing difficult.
Week 1
The first day of class is going to be a talk only session about the project. This is the day where the project’s lessons, goals, and theories will be discussed.
There will be no painting on this day because there will be an insightful conversation about the subject with examples of paintings that provide answers.
This will be a zoom only class on this day. Weeks that follow this will be held in person at Artisans. I will record the Zoom meeting and send it out unedited the following day.
Week 2
From 9am-noon is painting time. You will be painting along with Hazel. Hazel will stop intermittently to help you with your work. When she is painting you are welcomed to ask for help or questions; she is more than happy to stop and talk with you.
At certain times we will have a group critique. The critique will last 30 min to an hour, depending on class size. Some days you will have time to work after the critique. You can work on your painting at home or bring it in the following week.
